This profession requires market knowledge, strong communication skills, analytical thinking ability, and professional relationships based on trust. Our program aims to train you as qualified human resources who possess these qualities and can meet the expectations of the sector. About the Program
The Istanbul Nişantaşı University Maritime Brokerage Program is an associate degree program that aims to train qualified human resources with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required in the field of maritime brokerage. The program aims not only to provide students with professional knowledge but also to develop analytical thinking, problem-solving, effective communication, and negotiation skills, instill professional ethical values, and offer a comprehensive education that integrates theory and practice. Candidates who choose the program are expected to be interested in the maritime sector, have strong communication skills, possess analytical thinking abilities, be prone to teamwork, be responsible, and be open to continuous learning. The education program provides students with comprehensive knowledge in areas such as maritime brokerage, ship chartering, maritime transportation, freight markets, port management, maritime commercial law, marine insurance, maritime economics, and international maritime legislation. In addition, students acquire the basic knowledge and skills they will need in business life by learning maritime terminology, the functioning of the sector, commercial contracts, and professional practices. The program adopts an educational approach that integrates theory and practice. By including the processes encountered in the sector and current practices in the courses, it is aimed that students gain a professional perspective, make analytical evaluations, and understand the dynamic structure of the maritime sector. It is important for students to be in interaction with the sector during the education process. With the seminars, technical trips, sector meetings, and compulsory internship practices planned in this direction, it is aimed for students to get to know the maritime sector closely, come together with industry professionals, and prepare for their careers more fully equipped. The maritime sector offers wide career opportunities to its graduates with its constantly developing and changing structure on a global scale. While the elective courses offered within the scope of the program alow students to develop their knowledge and skills in line with their interests, the Double Major (ÇAP) opportunity also contributes to enriching their academic equipment in different disciplines. Program graduates can find employment opportunities in maritime brokerage firms, shipowning and ship management companies, ship agencies, port and terminal enterprises, international logistics and freight forwarder companies, organizations operating in the field of marine insurance, and public and private sector organizations serving the maritime sector.

About the Courses
The Istanbul Nişantaşı University Maritime Brokerage Program consists of theoretical and applied courses designed to enable students to gain the knowledge and skills they will need in the fields of maritime brokerage, ship chartering, ship sale and purchase, and maritime trade. The program offers a sector-oriented curriculum aimed at developing students' professional competencies. In the first year of the program, there are courses on Ataturk's Principles and History of the Turkish Revolution I, Turkish Language I, Foreign Language I, Information and Communication Technology, Mathematics, and Entrepreneurship, which are aimed at developing students' general culture, communication, and numerical thinking skills. With the Basic Seamanship and Navigation, Basic Principles of Maritime Management, and Ship Chartering Contracts courses aimed at creating a professional foundation, students get to know the structure of the maritime sector, brokerage activities, and the legal infrastructure of maritime trade. Furthermore, through courses such as Dry Cargo Ship Chartering, Ship Agency Management, Ports and Terminals, Ro-Ro and Passenger Transportation, Container Transportation and Systems, and Ship Operation Management, professional knowledge and application skills regarding different transportation types, port operations, and ship chartering processes are provided. In the second year of the program, students take courses geared towards the specialized areas of maritime brokerage. Courses such as Ship Sale, Purchase and Chartering, Yacht Sale, Purchase and Chartering, Tanker Management and Chartering Procedures, and Container Transportation and Systems cover practices related to different ship types and chartering models. Ship and Fleet Management, Survey and Classification Societies, International Maritime Conventions, and Maritime Commercial Law courses enable students to specialize in maritime legislation, ship management, inspection processes, and international regulations. The Maritime English course provides mastery of international maritime terminology, while the Occupational Health and Safety course contributes to conducting professional activities within the framework of safe working principles. Throughout the program, thanks to the course contents whr they can transfer the theoretical knowledge they have acquired into practice, students graduate equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed by the maritime brokerage sector; ready to take roles in ship brokerage firms, ship chartering companies, shipowning enterprises, ship agencies, port operations, and national and international organizations operating in the field of maritime trade.

PO1. Explains the basic concepts, principles, and processes related to maritime brokerage, maritime trade, ship chartering, ship sale and purchase, and maritime transportation. PO2. Applies national and international maritime legislation, maritime commercial law, and basic regulations related to brokerage activities in professional practices. PO3. Executes the contracts, documents, and operational procedures used in ship chartering, ship sale and purchase, and brokerage activities. PO4. Supports professional decision-making processes by analyzing data related to the freight market, ship market, and maritime sector. PO5. Identifies and evaluates professional problems encountered in maritime brokerage activities and develops appropriate solution proposals. PO6. Effectively manages customer relations, negotiation, and professional communication processes in maritime brokerage activities. PO7. Effectively uses information and communication technologies, digital platforms, and professional software in maritime brokerage activities. PO8. Takes individual responsibility in professional practices, contributes effectively to teamwork, and demonstrates the ability to work independently when necessary. PO9. Uses a foreign language at a level to follow national and international developments in the field and communicate professionaly. PO10. Acts in accordance with ethical principles and legal responsibilities in professional practices. PO11. Acts in line with the principles of occupational health and safety, environmental protection, sustainability, and quality management. PO12. Develops professional knowledge and skills by following technological developments and sectoral innovations in the field of maritime brokerage with a lifelong learning approach.
